Advance CTE regularly provides Communities of Practice as a meaningful engagement opportunity for state CTE leaders to share real-time promising practices and lessons learned in a low-intensity, collaborative space that meets the capacity of all members.
Advance CTE is launching four Community of Practice on the following topics that will be conducted Summer 2023 through Spring 2024 with a particular focus on supporting states as the improve the implementation and/or design of their Perkins V state plan:
- Data and Accountability
- Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment
- K-12/Postsecondary Alignment
- Learner Voice
Description
- Data and Accountability: This community of practice will focus on exploring effective data systems, linking data across agencies, strategies for monitoring progress, and building a culture of data-driven decision making.
- Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA): This community of practice will focus on using CLNA to advance stakeholder engagement and equity and implementing CLNA strategies to support local education agencies and regional collaborations.
- K-12/Postsecondary Alignment: This community of practice will explore strategies for deepening partnerships to align pathways between K-12 and postsecondary institutions and systems, as well as increasing postsecondary credential attainment.
- Learner Voice: This community of practice will support states as they identify opportunities to engage learners more meaningfully in the design and delivery of Career Technical Education programs and policies.
Timeline
- August 2023 to February 2024: Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment and Learner Voice
- September 2023 to March 2024: Data and Accountability and K-12/Postsecondary Alignment
Eligibility
Staff of the lead state CTE agency and staff of state-level partnering agencies are eligible to participate.
State Staff Commitment
Community of Practice members should attend and actively engage in four virtual meetings of 60 to 90 minutes held every other month. Some pre-reading/work may be required, and the agenda will be provided in advance.
