Advance CTE Statement on Former Senator and CTE Champion Mike Enzi

SILVER SPRING, MD (July 27, 2021) – This statement can be attributed to Kimberly Green, Executive Director of Advance CTE:

“Advance CTE and I had the privilege of working with Senator Mike Enzi during his time in the U.S. Senate as the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Senator Enzi was a longtime, tireless champion for Career Technical Education (CTE), advocating for the needs of learners and employers, especially those in rural communities.  He was a true public servant who steadfastly held his constituents in Wyoming at the heart of all of his work.

Senator Enzi was a primary author of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act (Perkins) in 2006 and played an instrumental role in the 2018 reauthorization, as well as served as a co-chair of the Senate CTE Caucus. We are grateful for his leadership and legacy, which helped millions of CTE learners across the country access high-quality CTE programs and secure a path to in-demand, high-wage careers. We are deeply saddened to hear of Senator Enzi’s passing, and our condolences and thoughts are with his loved ones and family.”
