This spring, sixteen states and D.C. submitted plans to the U.S. Department of Education describing their strategies to implement the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The remaining 34 states will submit their plans in September. While career readiness strategies were featured throughout the first round of state plans, specifically in state accountability systems, several state plans fell short of maximizing all of the opportunities the law provides. At this critical juncture, Advance CTE hosted a webinar to help state leaders unpack trends from the first round of state plans and explore strategies to fully leverage ESSA to advance Career Technical Education (CTE) and other career readiness strategies.
