ESSA Metrics

ESSA School Quality and Student Success Indicators

Maryland’s SQSS measure includes an Access to a Well-rounded Curriculum indicator (weighted at 10 percent), which includes, at the high school level, the percentage of students who are enrolled in IB/AB, are CTE concentrators and/or participate in dual enrollment.

An additional indicator measures Readiness for Postsecondary Success (weighted at 10 percent), which includes two dimensions: on-track in 9th grade and credit for completion of a well-rounded curriculum (high school only).

Credit for completion of a well-rounded curriculum includes the percentage of graduating students who complete dual enrollment, a CTE youth apprenticeship, a CTE industry certification, an MSDE-approved CTE program and more.
