Credential Transparency & P-20W Data Systems: Aligning Education and Employment Information to Meet State Talent Goals

This resource by Credential Engine recommends actions states can take to increase credential transparency. Credential transparency ensures that learners, education leaders, and the business community have the information they need to make informed decisions. This means a common language to describe credential information, a common understanding of the skills and competencies that make up a credential, and information about the quality, costs, pathways, transfer value, and connections to jobs a credential can provide.

The resource highlights Washington State's comprehensive statewide efforts to increase credential transparency including leveraging its Education Research and Data Center which houses the state's P-20W longitudinal data system and making detailed information about the state's thousands of education programs publicly accessible on a credential registry site, Career Bridge.
