The CTE Equation in Florida

The extent to which Career Technical Education (CTE) programs correspond to labor market demands has important implications for both students and employers. Students want to be prepared for good careers, and employers seek skilled workers to fill jobs in high-demand areas. Recent high school and college graduates make an important contribution to the state’s ability to respond to economic growth needs.

This report from CNA Education uses data from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics to identify high-growth, high-wage occupations in Florida and map them to associated CTE Career Clusters ®. The report finds that one-quarter of projected job openings will be in occupations classified as high wage. Most of these jobs will be in Health Science; Business Management and Administration; Education and Training; Finance; Information Technology; and Marketing, Sales and Service.
