Welcome Karolina Belen to Advance CTE

Welcome Karolina Belen to Advance CTE

I’m beyond excited to dive into this new role at Advance CTE, championing our members and amplifying the impact of Career Technical Education (CTE) nationwide as the new director of membership engagement and professional learning! As a passionate advocate for CTE and a certified professional in training management (CPTM), I have spent my career designing and leading professional development programs that empower educators and workforce leaders to support every learner’s career journey. It is truly an honor to now be part of this impactful organization that is shaping the future of education and work.

Originally from Lublin, Poland, I bring a global perspective to my work, and today I call Frederick, Maryland home. With a background in English Language Arts and TESOL, and extensive experience in adult learning, I have dedicated much of my career to strengthening professional learning systems and advancing skills-based education. Prior to joining Advance CTE, I served as the senior manager of professional development at SkillsUSA, where I led national initiatives that supported advisors, CTE teachers and instructors, and state leaders through strategic training, curriculum design, and program development to engage every learner in the opportunities that would lead to a fulfilling career and economic stability.

In my time at SkillsUSA, I had the privilege of launching in-person and virtual professional learning programs such as the Academy of Excellence and SkillsUSA University, while also collaborating closely with industry partners to connect workforce trends with education. My passion lies in empowering learners of all ages to understand and develop their professional identity, and I am driven by the belief that skills-based talent strategies are key to advancing both learner access and workforce impact.

Earlier in my career, I worked directly with adult learners at Frederick Community College and the Adult Learning Center in Baltimore, helping learners build foundational skills and confidence. Those experiences cemented my commitment to education that reaches and supports all learners, and to the essential role CTE plays in delivering it.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and two young children, especially hiking through Maryland’s beautiful state parks and traveling to new places. I’m passionate about interior design, and I enjoy teaching my kids my first language, Polish, while keeping up my Spanish whenever I get the chance. Lately, I’ve been looking for new ways to stay active so I recently joined a badminton class—I am not very good at it, but it is great cardio!

I am thrilled to bring my experience, passion, and energy to Advance CTE and to work alongside our incredible members to elevate CTE, support educators and state delivery systems, and ultimately make a difference for learners nationwide.
