Welcome Vicki Jacobs to Advance CTE

Welcome Vicki Jacobs to Advance CTE

Hello, everyone! I’m Vicki, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Advance CTE team as a membership associate. I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to work alongside passionate individuals and organizations who are dedicated to advancing Career Technical Education (CTE) nationwide. In my new role, I will be focusing on supporting member engagement, the Postsecondary State CTE Leaders Fellowship at Advance CTE — Sponsored by ECMC Foundation, and building strong connections across state agencies supporting CTE.

I am deeply committed to contributing to the promotion of strategic communications, resource sharing, and facilitating collaborative opportunities that help improve and elevate the high-quality CTE experiences learners deserve. As a part of the small but mighty membership engagement team, I’ll be connecting with CTE leaders and advocates from around the country while helping to shape education systems that reach and serve all learners.

With over 20 years of experience as an educator, literacy advocate, and systems-level leader, I’ve had the chance to develop a wide range of skills that I’m eager to bring to this new chapter. Early in my career, I served as an elementary school teacher, literacy intervention specialist, and instructional coordinator of a statewide early literacy and math initiative at partnering nonprofit organizations Action for Children and Future Ready Columbus. More recently, I worked as the state’s dyslexia specialist on the policy team at the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce in the Office of Literacy Achievement and Academic Success supporting the development and implementation of the state’s comprehensive literacy policies and initiatives.

I hold a master’s degree with dual concentrations in Integrated Teaching and Learning and Reading and Literacy in Early and Middle Childhood from The Ohio State University. I live in Columbus, Ohio with my husband, our son, and a rescue pup named Cosmo. We love reading, heist movies, hiking, and cheering on the Buckeyes every Saturday. Here’s a fun little tidbit about us—over the years, we’ve collected thousands of shark teeth near Venice, Florida while combing the beaches for these treasures!

I’m so excited for the next chapter of my journey with Advance CTE, and I look forward to building meaningful partnerships with our incredible members. I can’t wait to contribute to the continued growth and success of CTE across the nation!
