Member Benefits

Member-Focused Resources

Advance CTE produces a variety of reports, tools, and resources designed to meet each state where they are in their capacity to impact CTE policy and practice. Our website features the Learning that Works Resource Center, where you can explore a wide range of publicly available materials. Members also gain access to exclusive resources through our member portal

Advance CTE also provides individualized research services for members, conducting surveys and customized research where needed. As a member, you are given opportunities year-round, through surveys and other spaces, to provide input on the future direction of member supports, resources, federal policy recommendations, and more.

Professional Learning & Networking

Advance CTE provides a wide array of opportunities for members to learn, connect, and lead. Through communities of practice, affinity groups, shared solution workgroups, monthly virtual learning opportunities, quarterly regional calls, and more, members can lean into spaces that fit their state’s and personal professional development needs. Many of these spaces are member-only, fostering a trusted community of state CTE leaders. All members have access to our Membership Directory to easily connect with peers.

Members receive discounted rates for our two annual national meetings and access to our Membership Directory for easy peer connections. New State CTE Directors are invited to participate in the New State Director Institute (NSDI), a multi-workshop professional development opportunity focused on strategic leadership and community building.

Technical Assistance

Advance CTE offers a wide range of technical assistance tailored to each member’s needs—from on-demand support included with membership to intensive, customized support available at members-only fee-for-service rates.

In 2024, 19 states received targeted technical assistance. Current projects include integrating the Opportunity Gap Analysis workshop into states’ comprehensive local needs assessment (CLNA) processes, supporting adoption of the modernized National Career Clusters Framework, and assisting with implementation of new state-level legislative requirements through direct support to local secondary and postsecondary education partners. Whether you’re in need of a sounding board or a full-scale systems approach, Advance CTE is here to support your work.

Federal Policy and Advocacy

As a member, you have a direct connection to the national conversation shaping the future of CTE. Our federal policy team builds relationships and fosters partnerships with policymakers and advocates, working to champion full funding for Perkins V and ensure CTE for all careers and all ages remains front and center in education, workforce, and apprenticeship policy. Through the View from the Hill updates in our member-only newsletter, weekly Legislative Updates, and targeted action alerts, you’re kept informed of the latest developments and opportunities to engage.

We believe our members are the strongest champions for CTE. That’s why we work to elevate state CTE leaders in national policy conversations and events on Capitol Hill, as well as provide the tools to advocate effectively. Lawmakers nationwide see Advance CTE as a trusted source of information and guidance—an advantage we use to amplify your voice and advance our shared legislative priorities for CTE.

Member Communications

Timely communication is one of our hallmarks as a membership organization. We’re always watching the horizon so we can quickly share news about critical issues and legislation impacting CTE and our members. Members receive a weekly roundup of federal policy news through our Legislative Updates, as well as a monthly newsletter with a compilation of recent resources, initiative highlights, advocacy updates, and upcoming events and opportunities for engagement and technical assistance.
