Peter Risse

Idaho Division of Career Technical Education

Peter Risse is Idaho’s State Administrator for the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education. Before taking on this statewide role, he served as Boise State University’s Director of Government and Industry Relations and previously as Associate Dean for Extended Studies. In those positions, he focused on connecting education with the real world by building programs for adult learners, creating workforce pathways, and expanding access to education across Idaho.

Earlier in his career, he worked in Alaska, where he led community and technical college programs that trained people for careers in fields like marine safety, fisheries, and energy. His experience spans classrooms, boardrooms, and worksites, all with one goal in mind: helping learners of every age build meaningful, skill-based futures.

Peter holds a master’s degree in adult education from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and he believes education should empower people—not only to prepare for a job, but to discover their purpose and potential.

As State Administrator, he focuses on strengthening partnerships between schools, colleges, and industries, knowing that when education and opportunity meet, students lead the way.
