This report from REL Northwest, conducted in partnership with the Oregon Department of Education and Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission, explores student participation and outcomes in secondary Career Technical Education (CTE) programs in the state of Oregon. The study finds that:
- The number of secondary CTE programs has increased since 2015
- Secondary CTE participation and concentration have also increased, but disparities persist across student demographic groups
- CTE concentration was positively related to higher high school graduation rates and annual earnings after high school
This resource contributes to the existing literature about the educational and economic impacts of secondary CTE. It also serves as a model for other states aiming to explore their own data in order to identify disparities in access and outcomes.
