ESSA School Quality and Student Success Indicators

New York’s College, Career and Civic Readiness Index is calculated out of a total of 200 points. The index is computed by multiplying the number of students by the weight of the method by which they demonstrated CCR, divided by total number of students in the accountability cohort. The index components and weighting system are as follows:

  • 2 points: students graduating with advanced designation, a CTE endorsement, a seal of biliteracy, a score of 3+ on an AP exam, a score of 4+ on an IB exam, and students either receiving industry-recognized credentials or passing nationally certified CTE exams.
  • 1.5 points: students graduating with high school credits earned through AP, IB or dual enrollment or earning a Career Development and Occupational Students endorsement.
  • 1 point: students graduating with a Regents or Local Diploma.
  • 0.5 points: students earning a high school equivalency diploma.
