In the last two years, the National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium (NASDCTEc) has surveyed its members to deeply understand a specific issue within CTE, providing a snapshot in the "state of CTE" across the country.

In 2013, NASDCTEc focused this first annual "state of CTE" report on state-approved CTE standards to understand the standards themselves, how they compare to the Common Career Technical Core, and the policies states leverage to adopt and implement CTE standards at the secondary and/or postsecondary level.

In 2014, NASDCTEc explored another critical topic to CTE, the state role in fostering and accelerating employer engagement in CTE.
