WHAT TO EXPECT:
Join state Career Technical Education (CTE) leaders from across the country April 8-10 in Washington, D.C. for a three-day professional development conference that will explore the latest issues and challenges influencing CTE today. The annual Spring Meeting will equip you with the resources and knowledge you need to be innovative and bold as you begin to implement the Strengthening Career Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) and help you develop a clear vision to guide CTE in your state. Our agenda features breakout sessions featuring promising practices, roundtable discussions for peer-to-peer learning and panels led by CTE experts.
This meeting is more important than ever as it will be Advance CTE’s only public conference this year while we support state efforts to implement Perkins V.
AGENDA:
This year’s meeting will push state CTE leaders to BE BOLD while also providing concrete examples of how other states have taken risks to gain real results for the learners they serve. While we finalize our agenda, here’s a snapshot of what you can expect.
Day 1 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
BOLD GOALS – It takes vision, principles and determination to chart a bold path for the future. Learn how states are dreaming big about how to use Perkins V implementation to create a CTE system that is grounded in equity, quality and access for every learner.
Day 2 – 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
BOLD ACTION – We will begin the day by celebrating our 6th annual Excellence in Action awards program, which recognizes high-quality CTE programs of study from across the country. Then, we are bringing back our popular “Problems of Practice” roundtables, where states can learn from each other to solve common challenges in CTE. Day 2 will end with Advance CTE’s new campaign, which will launch in February. Stay tuned!
Day 3 – 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
BOLD RESULTS – This half-day will be focused on how state leaders can and should build the necessary data systems to improve and support CTE in their state. This programming will be supported by our latest 50-state report and rich with data and examples.
