In 2016, JPMorgan Chase, in partnership with the Council of Chief State School Officers, Advance CTE and Education Strategy Group, launched the New Skills for Youth initiative to accelerate state-led efforts to strengthen career readiness opportunities for youth. Through the initiative, 10 states were selected to receive $2 million each and hands-on technical assistance and coaching to develop and execute their action plans. Three years later, what have those states done to strengthen high-quality career pathways, expand access to work-based learning, improve data and accountability, and lay the foundation for long-term sustainability? In this webinar, state leaders from Kentucky and Massachusetts — two of the NSFY states — talk about their work and major lessons learned through the initiative.
Speakers:
- Brianna McCain, Policy Associate, Advance CTE;
- Kiley Whitaker, Assistant Director, Division of Technical Schools and Continuous Improvement, Office of Career and Technical Education and Student Transitions, Kentucky Department of Education; and
- Kerry Akashian, Career Development Education Lead, Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
