This five-year initiative, launched by JPMorgan Chase & Co. in 2020 with the support of Advance CTE and Education Strategy Group, aims to improve student completion of high-quality career pathways. In the second year of the initiative, the Boston, Massachusetts, New Skills ready network team expanded career pathways access in four focus schools and developing a work-based learning vision and work group. Additionally, progress towards an integrated career advising system included mapping of grades 7 to 16 advising, expansion of MyCAP to middle grades and deepening local postsecondary partnerships.

This snapshot provides a summary of the three major priorities of Boston, Massachusetts’ New Skills ready network team:

  1. Developing high-quality and accessible career pathways in high schools participating in the New Skills ready network initiative;
  2. Increasing a shared understanding of, and access to, work-based learning; and
  3. Creating a holistic and seamless advising system to support learners.
