Advance CTE Announces New Board Leadership

Advance CTE Announces New Board Leadership

July 2, 2018 – Silver Spring, MD – Today, Advance CTE welcomes its 2018-2019 officers.

“What an exciting time to be part of Career Technical Education (CTE), to be a State Director and to be a leader with Advance CTE,” said Bernadette Howard, Board President and State Director for Career Technical Education at the University of Hawaii. “Congress has already demonstrated their support by adding an additional $75 million in funding this year and it appears they are poised to reauthorize the Perkins legislation. As never before we see our states and territories around the country advancing our organizational goals through partnerships with business and industry and the workforce system. As this year’s president, I have committed myself to working with our Advance CTE members, the amazing staff of our national office and our dedicated CTE national partners to focus on equity and program quality –  while remaining flexible if we need to change focus and work on responding to new legislation. I can’t wait to dive in!”

In addition to Howard, officers include:

  • Vice President Sarah Heath, Assistant Provost for CTE, Colorado Community College System;

  • Secretary/Treasurer Marcie Mack, State CTE Director, Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education; and

  • Past President Pradeep Kotamraju, Career and Technical Education Bureau Chief, Division of Community College, Iowa Department of Education

“We are so fortunate to have this group of dedicated and accomplished CTE leaders at the helm of Advance CTE,” said Kimberly Green, Executive Director of Advance CTE. “Under their leadership, we look forward to continuing  to advocate for increased support and investment in CTE and ensuring all learners have access to high-quality CTE in their communities.”
