(SILVER SPRING, MD – March 11, 2021) Our nation faces the dual challenge of recovering from both a global pandemic and a struggling economy, but tumultuous periods in history also can usher in periods of change, and new possibilities. It is a particularly critical time to ensure that we build an inclusive and equitable future that empowers each learner to access the education and training they need to be successful in a meaningful career.
With this goal in mind, Advance CTE, a nonprofit organization that represents state Career Technical Education (CTE) leaders, is proud to release “Without Limits: A Shared Vision for the Future of Career Technical Education,” with the support of 38 national organizations. This new vision calls for shared action to create a more cohesive, flexible, and responsive career preparation ecosystem that can drive decision-making on critical education and workforce issues and provide each learner with limitless opportunities.
On March 18 at 2:00 pm ET, Advance CTE is hosting an online event that will feature a panel of four top education and workforce development experts:
- Sara Allan, Director, Early Learning and Education Pathways at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
- Dr. Adrienne Battle, Director of the Metro Nashville Public Schools
- Emily Fabiano, Director of Strategy and Operations, Ohio Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation
- Dr. Nicole Smith, Chief Economist, Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce
The four speakers will discuss current challenges and new opportunities in CTE, in particular concerns about equity, and how this new vision addresses key actions that must be taken to strengthen the CTE system in the United States.
“CTE Without Limits is a bold vision that seeks to ensure each learner has access to high-quality and equitable Career Technical Education,” said Kimberly Green, the Executive Director of Advance CTE. “The vision calls upon stakeholders to work together to break silos and remove systemic barriers in order to build a cohesive, flexible CTE ecosystem where every learner can succeed, employers have a strong talent pipeline and our nation’s economy flourishes.”
