Former Advance CTE Board President Tapped as Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the U.S. Department of Education

May 15, 2018 – Silver Spring, MD – Yesterday, President Donald Trump nominated Scott Stump as Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education for the U.S. Department of Education. Stump currently serves as the Chief Operating and People Development Officer for Vivayic Inc., a firm specializing in learning services & knowledge transfer. Stump is the former Assistant Provost of Career and Technical Education at Colorado Community College System, leading Career Technical Education (CTE) in the state.

Stump boasts a long and distinguished career in education. He served as a national CTE leader, serving as President on the Advance CTE Board of Directors in 2014-15. His leadership, vision and dedication to CTE lead him to be nominated by his peers and honored with the State CTE Director Emeritus Star of Education Award in 2015.  This recognition is bestowed upon those who have made extraordinary contributions to the practice and expansion of high-quality CTE.

Additionally, Stump had a variety of positions in the many years he worked for the National FFA Organization. Upon moving to Colorado, Stump served as the State FFA Advisor followed by his role as the state’s Director of Agricultural Education.
