Velie Sando is a policy associate at Advance CTE, where she conducts research and develops resources to support our state policy initiatives. Her contributions include the Year in Review report, the New Skills ready network quarterly newsletters, the Bay Watershed Education and Training Environmental Literacy framework and case study, and the Green Workforce Policy Playbook. She also manages the State Policy Updates monthly blog series, highlighting innovative Career Technical Education (CTE) policy adoptions nationwide.
Prior to joining Advance CTE, Velie served as a project & policy leader at Mobilify Southwestern Pennsylvania, where she analyzed and translated transportation policies, facilitated targeted support for municipal leaders, developed outreach initiatives, and provided research and grant-writing assistance. She holds a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and is particularly interested in how policy can expand opportunities across socio-economic backgrounds.
Born in Cameroon and raised in the United States, Velie brings a global perspective to her work. She is deeply committed to fostering impactful change, drawing inspiration from her faith, creativity, and a desire to contribute meaningfully to society.
