The rapid growth of the electric vehicle (EV) industry has led to a surge in demand for a variety of EV careers. Many of these careers are emerging and require intentional action to raise awareness by both learners and career development professionals. Career Technical Education (CTE) and registered apprenticeship programs (RAPs) provide an existing structure for the knowledge and skills needed for these careers to be understood and developed.
This infographic organizes sample current and emerging EV careers through the lens of the The National Career Clusters® Framework. It is organized via six Career Clusters: Advanced Manufacturing, Construction, Digital Technology, Energy & Natural Resources, Public Safety & Service, and Supply Chain & Transportation. The Framework, of which Advance CTE is the steward, provides a durable and flexible structure to help learners explore the full breadth of career options available within the electric vehicle industry as it continues to grow and evolve.
The chosen careers are based on electric vehicle lifecycle categories according to the World Resources Institute: scientific research to improve EV technology; design and development of EV technology; EV design and manufacture of EV technology; EV maintenance and repair; and charging infrastructure development.
