As economic, technological, and social changes create a global economy that is increasingly interconnected, it is necessary that U.S. educators equip students with the capacity and disposition to understand and act on issues of global significance.
This report from Asia Society, Longview Foundation, ACTE and Advance CTE explores why it is so critical that global competencies are embedded throughout CTE programs of study to ensure students are fully prepared for the competitive economy. The report also offers examples of local CTE programs successfully integrating global concepts through partnerships, projects and other student experiences and provides examples of global topics that are relevant to each of the 16 career clusters. The examples outlined in this paper are intended to provide support for CTE educators as they incorporate global competencies into their own CTE curriculum.
