Work-based Learning (WBL) can provide tangible benefits to employers and help to close the gap between what is taught in the classroom and what students need to know to be successful in the workplace. Left unchecked, however, the gap between the skills employers need and the skills young adults have will only continue to grow.
This report from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF) explores different approaches that companies are using to engage high school students and develop young talent: developing their own solutions or finding strategic partners. Ultimately, WBL creates value for both youth workers and companies — employers would be wise to learn from the examples and elements explored in this report.
