This report from JFF with a select group of community college practitioners, makes the case for policymakers, employers and practitioners to invest in and strengthen short-term credentialing programs to rapidly retrain unemployed workers for better career prospects, especially workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It includes key commitments for policy design, policy recomendations and state examples from Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. This report would be helpful for employers, education providers and policymakers to learn more about the role short-term credentialing programs can play in the education and workforce fields of today and how to come together to ensure these programs are the critical first step towards economic mobility for learners and workers.
